SKF spherical roller bearing

Spherical roller bearings have two rows of rollers, a common spherical outer raceway and inner raceway inclined at an angle to the bearing axis. The center point of the sphere in the raceway of the outer ring is on the bearing axis. Therefore, the bearing, self-aligning and insensitive to the shaft relative to the housing, can, for example, be misaligned by deflection of the shaft. Spherical roller bearings are designed to withstand heavy radial loads, as well as heavy axial loads in both directions.

Influencing factors
Bearing performance is not only dependent on load or speed rating. There are many other factors that contribute to bearing performance. To a large extent, performance is affected by the geometry of the rollers, raceways and cages, heat treatment, and the surface finish of all contact surfaces. The main factors influencing the performance of SKF spherical roller bearings include, but are not limited to:

Symmetrical roller
Symmetrical rollers self-adjust to provide optimum load distribution along the roller length. This enables low stress under all load conditions, extending bearing life.

Roller tolerance
The rollers of SKF spherical roller bearings are manufactured to extremely tight tolerances in size and form. Each roll is nearly the same size and shape as the other rolls in the set. Optimized load distribution to maximize the service life of the roller bearings.

Roll Profile
The roller profile determines the stress distribution in the roller/raceway contact area. Special shape distributes load more evenly along the roller and prevents stress peaks at both ends of the roller, extending bearing life
