For high bearing load capacity, one of the shoulders is machined lower, allowing the bearing to fit more balls.

Because the raceways of the inner and outer rings can have relative displacement on the horizontal axis, NSK angular contact ball bearings can bear radial load and axial load at the same time - combined load (single row NSK angular contact ball bearings can only bear one-way axial load load, so they are generally installed in pairs).
